MOESIA INFERIOR, Istrus. Claudius. AD 41-54. Æ (21mm, 5.61 g, 5h). KΛAYΔ[IOY KA]IΣ[APOΣ], laureate head right; c/m: club (or trophy?) within incuse / IΣ[TP]I, see-eagle left, grasping dolphin with talons. RPC Supp. 1, S-1841A (same dies); for c/m: cf. Howgego 398. Good Fine, green patina with some areas of red-brown encrustation, light scratches. Perhaps the second known.

This important coin allows us to complete the obverse legend and identify the emperor as Claudius. Two additional coins possibly from the Julio-Claudian period have also been published in RPC Supplement 2.

Estimate: 150 USD
